Work Experience

Technology Integration Specialist

August 2014 - Present

McCracken Middle School | Spartanburg School District 7

The Technology Integration Specialist is charged with making sure that teachers feel comfortable with the tech that students are given. In this case, 25 students in a classroom with someone who may or may not feel 100% comfortable with teaching technology. This job is 50% support, 40% design, and 10% troubleshooting.

English/Language Arts Teacher

July 2013 - June 2014

McCracken Middle School | Spartanburg School District 7

An English/Language arts teacher teaches students about the finder points of the King's English. I came to McCracken because the 2013 school year was the first year that the district had gone 1 to 1. I had an immense amount of fun with my kids and loved every second of being in the classroom. Because we were having a good time, I ended up being the school's technology specialist the year after.

English/Language Arts Teacher

June 2008 - June 2013

Greenville Middle Academy | Greenville County School District

I loved GMA! I'm pretty sure that GMA also loved me. I was their 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year (Known in some circles as the TOTY [pronounced: 'TOADY"]). I left here because Greenville County was nowhere near becoming 1:1. Ironically, they started their 1 to 1 transition a year after I left.

Editor

May 2007 - June 2008

Super Duper Publications

Every now and then, I take a little reprieve from teaching to see how the other half lives. At Super Duper, I was responsible for editing Spanish language products as well as some of the more basic classroom stuff. I made some products and I wrote some articles. I traveled the world and got to see some pretty cool sights. In the end, I came back to the jilted lover I call "teaching".

Education

Master of Education

July 2005 - 2007

North Park College

I did my Master's Degree in Education. I wrote a thesis and everything. I graduated with a 4.0 and loved every minute of it.

Bachelor of Arts

August 1999 - June 2001

Florida Atlantic University

This is where I learned to love reading and technology. My bachelors degree taught me that I could learn anything as long as I dedicated myself to it.
